I just came across an article on Yahoo's homepage ranking U.S. cities on the most attractive residents, the smartest, the cleanest, and cities with the wildest weekend parties. Here are some of the results. See if any of your hometowns rank:

  • Most Attractive:Miami. I wonder if they were voted number one because of the lack of real clothing. Smiling
  • Least Attractive: For the second year in a row, Philadelphia is the city with the least attractive people. Well, at least they were the last of the top 25.
  • Wildest Weekend: It is no surprise to me that Las Vegas and New Orleans took the top two spots for this category.
  • Least Friendly AND Least Intelligent: Drumroll please.... Los Angeles is not only mean, but not too smart. See, the things that Paris Hilton does to the city she lives in.
  • Friendliest: Since we know that L.A. won for the opposite category, who took this spot? Charleston, South Carolina. Back country charm? Friendly is good. Smiling
  • Smartest Locals: Seattle, Washington won the top spot for t his category. The smartest city in the United States. That is pretty amazing. Remind me to ask the locals for some Seattle ratings if I ever need to buy some form of electronics or stay at a nice hotel in the area. Smiling
  • Best City for Shopping: It is no surprise to me that New York is the top-ranked. But sadly, it also ranked last for peace, quiet, and affordability. Go figure.
  • Most Affordable City: Since New York is out because of the major expenses, where could you live and keep the most money in your bank account? San Antonio, Texas.
  • Quietest Place to Live:: Sante Fe, New Mexico is the quietest place to live while ranking last for being a party town. What? Are you telling me those two can't go hand in hand?
  • Cleanest City: Portland, Oregon is the cleanest city in the United States. Germ-a-phobs unite!
  • Messiest City: I feel like this is sort of a cheap shot. New Orleans, Louisiana was ranked the top city that needs to clean up their town. Give them a break, for heaven's sake. They are still working on cleaning up after Katrina. What a sucker punch, Yahoo! And New Orleans, if you are reading this...I think you are a beautiful city.
  • Best for a Romantic Escape: Honolulu. Awww... one day I will go there. But I've seen pictures. So, that either means it is true that it is the most romantic city in the U.S. or it is a requirement to only take romantic pictures. You decide.
  • Best Family Vacation City: First, let me tell you who ranked last...Las Vegas.. Again, another "go figure". Orlando, Florida is ranked number one for the family-vacation-friendly city in the United States. Gotta love the mouse.

I've never been to Portland...is it not that clean? Just think how bad other cities must be if Portland is the cleanest, and you don't see it. ugh. Smiling
