Today I got to thinking about life would be like without direct deposit or any of the other finer things of life. I am only 22 (turning 23 soon!), so life has always had these things. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to live a few centuries earlier and not have all these conveniences. Then I think about it some more and decide...no, thank you.
So here is my ode to anything financially direct (direct debit, direct payments, direct deposit). Ok, so maybe this not so much an ode, but a list of benefits.
Direct Deposit:
One less trip to the bank.
Not having to wait for other in front of you to figure out how to use the ATM machine when all you want to do is deposit a simple paycheck.
Not having to wait in line IN the bank for people to stop chatting it up with the teller while there is a huge line behind them. Hello! Courtesy, people!
Getting your money in your account while you are still slaving away at work. It always perks up my day a little just knowing that the money is sitting there waiting for me to clock out and go shopping....or pay bills.
Feel free to take vacation days on paydays (especially if it falls on a Friday). The money will be in your account whether you go to work that day or not.
I've found that it usually posts faster than if you manually deposit the check.
Direct Debit Payment:
Save some moolah by not having to buy or use as many envelopes, paper, stamps, and your time, gosh dang it!
Never having to worry about forgetting to pay a bill.
Eliminating the stress of continually checking your online bank statement to see if they cash your payment so you can avoid a late fee for forgetting to send it out on time.
What's not to love...seriously.
